These new certifications are important to engineers designing systems in environments with explosive atmospheres, because they ensure compliance with all standards set forth by European Parliament and of the Council and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for safety and performance. The formal evaluation process involves months of examination, testing and continuous follow-up inspections.
“In order to expand our global reach in areas such as the offshore and petrochemical markets, having products with the necessary hazardous area certifications is crucial. AW-Lake will continue to offer the RT-30EX transmitter with CSA (US & Canada) certification, as well as the non-certified models for those not requiring such stringent criteria as mandated by these certifying bodies.
