Dental health is hugely important in our community. Proper dental care and routine cleanings have been proven to help reduce dental problems.

Tempe Dental Care, a leading local dentist’s office in Tempe, Arizona, shares some tips to improving dental health in honor of National Health Week.

Dr. Jeffrey Ward, a top dentist in Tempe, Arizona, explains, “Dental health is hugely important in our community. Proper dental care and routine cleanings have been proven to help reduce dental problems.”

According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial research, 23% of children have untreated tooth decay in their baby teeth and 26% of adults under 65 have untreated dental decay.

Dental problems continue as you age. On average, people 65 and older have almost 18 teeth affected by tooth decay, tooth loss, or permanent fillings. Adults start with 32 teeth including their wisdom teeth.

Proper dental care starts with teeth brushing for two minutes, two times a day. Once teeth surfaces touch, daily flossing should commence. In addition, dental cleanings at least every six months will help protect teeth and gums and find any dental problems early, before they become painful and expensive to treat.

Dr. Ward continues, “Dental implants or dentures look natural and can be a viable solution if a person is suffering from severe dental problems. If a person has dental anxiety or phobia, there are solutions such as sedation dentistry that can help reduce anxiety during dental treatments. The first step is to make an appointment and see a local dentist for a consultation.”
