Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) October 27, 2015 -- RecordSetter.com, the Los Angeles-based world record organization, has announced a new world record for "Most Tweets Of a Hashtag in 24 Hours." Fans of the hugely popular Philippine TV show Eat Bulaga! sent 41,000,000 tweets using the hashtag #ALDubTamangPanahon on Saturday, breaking the previous record of 25,652,800. Eat Bulaga!, which follows an ongoing love relationship between Filipino stars Alden Richards and Maine "YaYa Dub" Mendoza, was broadcast live from a sold-out 55,000 seat Philippine Arena. Fans around the planet, affectionately known as "AlDub Nation", tweeted voraciously throughout the day, reaching a peak of 47,000 tweets per minute when Richards and Mendoza hugged onstage. The 41 million tweets were confirmed by Twitter as an official record: https://twitter.com/TwitterSG/status/658625862137331713
"As a modern, digitally focused world record organization, it was a thrill watching AlDub Nation use a platform like Twitter to push the limits of human achievement," said RecordSetter CEO Dan Rollman. "Our team of adjudicators were stunned by their monumental effort."
The previous mark for most discussed event on Twitter was the 2014 FIFA World Cup semi-final between Germany and Brazil, during which 35.6 million tweets were sent. Since multiple hashtags were tracked, however, it wasn't recognized as a RecordSetter.com World Record.
