Hope For The Warriors® Announces Annual Got Heart, Give Hope® Celebration in Washington, DC
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 27, 2015 -- Hope For The Warriors® is excited to announce the honorees for the Got Heart, Give Hope® Celebration to be held at Union Station on November 4, 2015. The theme of this year’s Celebration is “Women Who Inspire Through Service.” The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of The Vigiano Family Hope & Courage Awards to seven honorees—service members and veterans, civilians and caregivers—focusing on the HOPE they symbolize through their remarkable stories and service. All proceeds of the event will go to Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope to our service members and our military families.
The emcee of the evening will be SiriusXM NASCAR Radio show host and military family advocate, Angie Skinner. Skinner will present The Vigiano Family Hope & Courage Awards to the honorees. These extraordinary women were chosen because they stand as pillars of strength and inspiration in their communities.
The Keynote Speaker for the evening will be Maj. Heather Penney (USAF), a F16 pilot in the 121st Fighter Squadron on Andrews AFB, MD for over 10 years. During the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Penney served as one of two combat pilots ordered to down United Airlines Flight 93 heading toward Washington, DC. The mission could only be carried out by ramming the plane with the fighter jets, however passengers on the flight attempted to take control of the aircraft, ending the mission. Penney continues to fly in the Air National Guard in the 201st Airlift Squadron as an instructor pilot and aircraft commander in the C-38 Gulfstream. Currently, she is the Director of USAF Air Superiority Systems at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. Hope For The Warriors® is honored to have Penney join in celebration of women who serve.
“We are honored by the opportunity to recognize a group of women that continues to overcome extreme adversity and challenges in order to serve their country,” said Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors® President. “We celebrate the hope and courage the women of this Got Heart, Give Hope® Celebration instill in and symbolize for their communities and our country.”
