Northeast Delta HSA Hosting Delta Solutions Rural Health Summit: Moving from Theory to Practice
Monroe, LA (PRWEB) October 26, 2015 -- Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NE Delta HSA), which directs the operation of community-based services for citizens with mental health issues, addictive disorders and developmental disabilities, is conducting a rural health summit on Friday, October 30 in Monroe. The Delta Solutions Rural Health Summit: From Theory to Practice will address rural healthcare access, support services, prevention and recovery issues unique to northeast Louisiana.
“Rural challenges aren’t new. They have been discussed and researched for years,” said Dr. Monteic A. Sizer, NE Delta HSA Executive Director. “Now it is time for indigenous rural leaders to come together, coordinate resources, build upon natural supports, and channel that ‘can-do’ spirit into social and institutional progress for all.”
The Summit program will include solution-based discussions including:
- How a rural community can identify its individual capacities, abilities and assets to identify resources and create a plan to help solve its problems;
- How to address and deepen the understanding of diversity, cultural norms and stigma in rural behavioral healthcare settings;
- The importance of support services and integrated healthcare to improve recovery, sustainability and the continuum of care.
“Our goal is to further improve regional outcomes as they relate to behavioral healthcare and developmental disabilities services for our northeast Louisiana citizens,” said Dr. Sizer. “Even with state fiscal challenges, we must find innovative ways to ensure our citizens have access to the best care and realize the healthiest lives possible.”
NE Delta HSA was awarded a 2015 Seed Grant by Magellan of Louisiana to implement the Delta Solutions Summit. This seed grant is intended to advance critical services and increase linkages among various health and human services sectors.
