Farm Credit Celebrates its Centennial with a Focus on Future Rural Leaders at the 2015 FFA Convention and Expo
Louisville, KY (PRWEB) October 28, 2015 -- Farm Credit, a leading provider of financial services to support rural communities and agriculture, returns to the National FFA Convention and Expo this week in Louisville, Ky. During the 88th annual gathering of the next generation of farmers, ranchers and advocates for rural America, Farm Credit will engage with student leaders on a variety of topics, including Farm Credit’s 100-year milestone and available career opportunities.
Farm Credit is looking toward the future during its centennial year through the Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives program — a nationwide search to identify and honor 100 leaders who are changing the future of rural communities and agriculture for the better.
“Providing education and support for young, beginning and small farmers has been a long-time focus for Farm Credit,” said Gary Matteson, vice president of young, beginning and small farmer outreach for the Farm Credit Council. “The annual FFA Convention presents the perfect opportunity to help this audience prepare for future success, recognize leadership through the Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives program and search for the next generation of agricultural leaders.”
On site at the FFA Convention & Expo, the Farm Credit Rocks booth (#1519) will incorporate the Farm Credit 100 brand, and will feature line dancing, a prize wheel, an interactive photo booth and the opportunity for students to speak with Farm Credit career counselors. Attendees who post their rockin’ photos to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtags #FarmCredit100 and #AmplifyFFA will be entered to win a centennial-themed grand prize.
Additionally, Farm Credit supports the following FFA Convention events and programs:
• American Degree: More than 3,500 FFA members will receive an American Degree during the award ceremony. Recipients, representing less than half of one percent of all FFA members, have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to the organization and have made significant accomplishments in their Supervised Agricultural Experiences.
• We Are FFA: The interactive We Are FFA booth #1629 will provide FFA members an opportunity to let their voices be heard regarding inclusiveness within the organization. We Are FFA strives to foster and sustain an environment of inclusiveness that empowers everyone to achieve the highest potential without fear, prejudice or bias.
Those who aren’t able to make it to Louisville can follow the conversation on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtags #FarmCreditRocks, #FarmCredit100 and #AmplifyFFA.
Farm Credit organizations across the nation contribute to local FFA chapters, and Farm Credit’s National Contributions program is proud to support national FFA programs on behalf of the entire Farm Credit System. In addition to the annual convention, Farm Credit supports the New Century Farmer program, the Washington Leadership Conference and the National FFA Alumni Development Conference.
