The CBA defending champions, the Beijing Ducks, led by former Knick great Stephon Marbury, host the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, featuring former Laker shooting guard Andrew Goudelock, live on the network. This marks the fourth year that ONE World Sports has brought CBA basketball to American fans.
ONE World Sports will carry 55 live games this season, in addition to the CBA All Star Weekend and the CBA playoffs. Marbury sparked the Ducks offense last year in a back-and-forth series against the Liaoning Hunters. Ultimately earning the CBA MVP honors, Marbury dished out seven assists, five rebounds, four steals and a solid 24 points to knock off an excellent Liaoning team 106-98 in the series’ final game. Two former NBA players, Andray Blatche and Jordan Crawford, had a combined average of 60.5 offensive points last season for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, who are expected to bring back a deadly offense for the this season.
The CBA is China’s top professional basketball league and counterpart to the NBA, consisting of twenty teams with globally recognized players. Recently, former NBA standout, 7-foot Greg Oden signed a one-year deal for $1.2 million to play for the CBA’s Jiangsu Dragons. An estimated 300 million of China’s 1.3 billion people either play or watch basketball.
