Modern Transportation Earns Second Consecutive US EPA SmartWay® Excellence Award
Sewickley, PA (PRWEB) October 29, 2015 -- Modern Transportation Services, LLC was honored with its second consecutive SmartWay® Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, reflecting the bulk carrier’s status as a true industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency.
Modern continued to shrink their company’s carbon footprint by reducing CO2 emissions by an average of 33 grams per mile, or an additional 2% year over year reduction. They have also reduced their dependence on fossil fuels by increasing the size of their natural gas trucks throughout their nationwide fleet.

Modern Transportation was one of 39 truck carriers to receive this distinction in 2015, and one of only two bulk/tank carriers to earn Partner Excellence status consecutively in both 2014 and 2015. The carriers represent the best environmental performers of SmartWay’s nearly 3000 Partners. The carrier Excellence Awardees were honored at American Trucking Associations Annual Management Conference & Exhibition held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 19, 2015.
