According to SHRM Leading Indicators of National Employment®, recruiting difficulty in manufacturing and service sectors rose again in October for the 17th straight month, reaching four-year highs in both sectors. To help organizations recruit and acquire more qualified candidates, Success Performance Solutions has released its newest white paper Recrooglization: Recruiting in the Age of Googlization. Its author is Ira S Wolfe, president of the company and author of several talent management books including Geeks, Geezers, and Googlization.

Wolfe answers “What the heck is Recrooglization?” right up front. “It’s the convergence of Recruiting + Googlization or more specifically Recruiting in the Age of Googlization. Google is changing the way we operate, communicate, and interact at work and play. Why would anyone believe that it hasn’t disrupted and changed recruiting?”

According to Wolfe, the recipe for acquiring talent will require a masterful blend of the traditional art of recruiting supported by the science of Google.

“Google has changed our lives,” Wolfe writes in the white paper. “Google permeates almost everything we do. It’s not only a brand, a product, a multitude of services…it’s a verb! Along with the Internet, the World Wide Web, social media, mobile computing, and big data. Google has significantly disrupted business models and transformed how they operate…and recruiting is no exception.”

Wolfe blames much of the problem companies face on legacy policies, departmental silos, lip-service to “people are our most important asset,” and the non-strategic role of HR. “Googlization,” he says, “has impacted traditional methods of recruiting to the point where the old way is dysfunctional and inefficient…and many organizations won’t even admit anything is wrong.”

Wolfe describes in the white paper how Recrooglization is both a description of the time we live in and the solution to the convergence of Recruiting and Googlization.
