Active Adventures Pleased to Announce New Peru and Galapagos Explorer Tour
Wellington, Colorado (PRWEB) October 27, 2015 -- Delivering travel experiences of a lifetime, expert tour operator Active Adventures is thrilled to announce a brand new South America combination trip to their list of tours. The Peru and Galapagos Explorer ‘Iguana’ has been a long time in the making, and Active Adventures delivers their signature legendary hospitality during this off-the-beaten-track, two week tour.
Set to debut on February 28, 2016, the ‘Iguana’ trip begins in Cuzco with an education of the ancient Inca Empire. In the fertile Sacred Valley of the Incas, a bike ride through stunning scenery surrounds visitors with the massive green slopes of the Andes. The group will soon hike to the Pisac ruins, descend the original Inca stairways, and head further into the Sacred Valley.
Visits to the remote market village of Chinchero, the Andean village of Tauca, Lamay village, and the sub-tropical village of Aguas Calientes will have guests enamoured as they will feel as though they’ve stepped back in time. Rewarding hikes and dramatic views fill days, as evenings wind down with tasty dinners and relaxing nights in comfortable accommodations; and of course, no trip to Peru would be complete without a visit to Machu Picchu!
Adventure awaits around every corner on this one-of-a-kind combo trip – guests will take in the views of the Sacred Valley as they zip line or ascend the Via Ferrata on the rock walls surrounding Ollantaytambo. Following a flight to Lima and a night in Quito, the group will fly to the Galapagos Islands for an exciting journey ahead.
The group will hike to Tortuga Bay for surfing or relaxing on the pristine beach, and later visit the famous Charles Darwin Research Station, before making their way to Isabela Island. A hike to the summit of Sierra Negra Volcano – which rises nearly a mile above the ocean – will treat guests to a lunar-like landscape along the way, with the possibility of spotting Galapagos hawks, short-eared owls, finches and fly-catchers that inhabit the region. Guests will visit a Galapagos giant tortoise breeding centre, fly to San Cristobal Island and head to La Loberia for exploration of the beach that is home to a large sea lion colony and nursery. Visitors will snorkel off the coast of San Cristobal to explore the rich marine under-world alongside the sea lions, followed by a snorkel or two dives around the remains of an underwater volcano at world-famous Kicker Rock.
This trip is 13 days; cost is US$6,999 (other currencies available); click here to learn more.
