Capitol Broadcasting Company and TotalCast Create an Industry First for FOX Affiliates in Raleigh-Durham Area
Cedar Rapids, IA (PRWEB) October 28, 2015 -- Broadcast Interactive Media (BIM) today announced its participation in an agreement between TotalCast and AT&T that adds even greater value to AT&T U-Verse subscribers in the Raleigh-Durham, NC TV market with the new “WATCH FOX 50” app.
The “WATCH FOX 50” app enables subscribers who receive FOX 50 (WRAZ/Raleigh) through their U-Verse subscriptions to watch FOX 50's programming live on tablets devices. The programming includes NFL football, hit prime-time shows like Gotham and Empire, as well as the station's original and syndicated programs. Users will only be able to view the FOX 50 live program stream with this app if they are inside the Raleigh-Durham TV market. At launch, the app will be available on android and iOS tablet devices.
TotalCast, an innovative mobile video start-up, designed the patented technology that provides the geo-location, geo-fencing and stream management used to ensure the mobile TV signals stay inside the Raleigh-Durham TV market. TotalCast is backed by Capitol Broadcasting Company and is based on a vision that Jim and Jimmy Goodmon had back in 2006, when they recognized the future of TV would be mobile centric.
“As local broadcasters, we want our news, sports and entertainment programming on as many platforms and devices as possible within our own market”, says James F. Goodmon, Jr., VP and General Manager of CBC New Media. “When you realize there are more mobile devices than TVs, we are excited about AT&T joining us in launching the innovative “WATCH FOX 50” app which gives Raleigh-Durham U-verse subscribers out-of-home access to FOX 50.
This is the first agreement allowing an independently-owned FOX affiliate to stream FOX network content onto its own station-specific mobile app. The app is designed to be easily configurable for other affiliates and markets.
“TotalCast is excited to help FOX 50 stream the most popular programming to its viewers on any device, keeping FOX 50’s local branding and logo “front and center” to increase brand loyalty between FOX 50 and its viewers,” says Lee Whitley, Director of Marketing, TotalCast. “Through our experience with WRAZ and integration with BIM, we’ve created an end-to-end streaming solution that not only highlights FOX 50’s local brand, but is economically feasible for any station, of any size. We look forward to working with BIM and other affiliates to deliver a similar solution.”
“BIM has a long history of creating tools that respect and support the television broadcasters’ need to maintain and protect their territorial exclusivity,” says Mick Rinehart, President, Data Services at BIM. “Providing data for the groundbreaking “WATCH FOX 50” app opens an exciting new chapter in connecting a local broadcaster with its viewers.”
