Public Insight Integrates College Scorecard Data into Its Data Analysis Platform
Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) October 29, 2015 -- Public Insight, whose software platform analyzes data about people, places, and providers has released the largest update to the platform to date. This update includes the addition of the new College Scorecard data provided by the U.S. Department of Education. With the addition of this data, users will be able to interconnect data from the College Scorecard database with information from sources such as the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), U.S. Federal Student Aid, and many others. Users can easily compare this data across institutions for analysis.
The U.S Department of Education released updated College Scorecard (https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/) data to the general public on September 12, 2015. Much of the information within College Scorecard included never-before-seen data from various government agencies such as National Student Loan Data System and the U.S. Treasury. This data includes information on student earnings, financial aid and debt, and loan repayments. The U.S. Department of Education’s web site gives parents and students a simple interface to compare colleges. However, in-depth analysis was previously only available by downloading a series of large spreadsheet files.
Public Insight is the first platform to analyze this data more in-depth. For example, in a single click, users can analyze and compare colleges over a multi-year historical trend. Further, the College Scorecard data is interconnected with other data sources such as IPEDS and Federal Student Aid.
"Public Insight is a very useful platform for helping reporters and others interested in higher education information.” Said Doug Lederman, Inside Higher Ed’s Editor and Co-Founder. “Their platform allows for easy access of data while making sense out of the wealth of information about the higher education industry that comes from many disparate sources." With the addition of this data, Public Insight adds another creditable data source to its ever expanding list of data providers.
Public Insight offers various subscriber levels, including a free level that allows users to browse all public data in Public Insight. Low-cost subscriptions provide additional visualization options, custom reporting and analysis, and exporting. Users can view the new College Scorecard data quickly and easily by registering, signing up for a free trial, or purchasing a subscription.
