Vets Plus Awards Weekend of Milking to Bear Creek Dairy
Menomonie, Wis. (PRWEB) October 28, 2015 -- Vets Plus, Inc. has awarded Bear Creek Dairy in Brooklyn, Iowa a $500 prize toward milking services. The global animal health company selected Bear Creek Dairy as the winner of a drawing held for booth visitors at World Dairy Expo in October.
Jan & Dorine Boelen, owners of Bear Creek Dairy, were thrilled to except the $500 prize on behalf of their family dairy. Bear Creek Dairy has been in operation for five years, with a total herd of about 1,400 Holstein cows. In 2009, the Boelens sold their farm in the Netherlands and moved to southeast Iowa to pursue an opportunity to grow their business. The farm started out with a herd of 238 cows milking 45 pounds a day. Now, the farm produces 100 pounds of a milk a day, which amounts to 31,000 pounds of milk per year.
Bear Creek Dairy utilizes Bovine One Oral Gel from the Probios line of products. Jan Boelen, co-owner of Bear Creek Dairy, said he is happy not only with this product, but also the relationship the farm has built with their distributor.
Dave Lindevig, National Accounts Manager at Vets Plus, said it is meeting producers, like the Boelen family, that make World Dairy Expo an invaluable experience for the company. He said, “World Dairy Expo has been the best way to get in touch with producers who use our products and start a conversation regarding how Vets Plus can better meet the nutritional needs of their animals."
This is the third year the company has sponsored the “We’ll Milk Your Cows for a Weekend” drawing at World Dairy Expo. Steve Vale, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said, “The drawing is just one way of showing our thanks to our loyal customers and those who are stopping by for the first time to learn about what we do. We have a lot of fun meeting producers at our booth, and we want to say thank you.”
