“Families of children with autism deal with excessive amounts of stress,” said Vince Redmond, MFT, director of family services at CARD.
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (PRWEB) October 28, 2015
Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) today announced that it now offers individual, adolescent and couples therapy at its office locations across California. CARD’s team of highly trained and licensed mental health professionals understand the balance needed to manage a successful applied behavior analysis (ABA) program, while managing the needs of the entire family and at times, prioritizing personal needs. CARD counseling services are aimed to help the entire family with issues, such as communication problems in a marriage, feelings of loneliness, lack of support, and the need to relax and process. Most insurance carriers cover mental health services. Private pay options are also available.
“Families of children with autism deal with excessive amounts of stress,” said Vince Redmond, MFT, director of family services at CARD. “Our goal is to help alleviate that stress by offering counseling services from mental health professionals who are familiar with the impact autism has on families. We are here to help the entire family.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that one in every 68 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with ASD, with one in 42 boys and one in 189 girls diagnosed. According to the Autism Action Partnership, 70 to 80 percent of parents who have a child with autism will get divorced. Parents who have children with autism know the effect it has on their family and their relationships. It is important to give each family the opportunity to speak with a licensed professional about critical concerns as they come up.
