Isom Global Strategies Hosts Curators and Cocktails, a Private Art Show Honoring Local Seasoned Artist
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 29, 2015 -- Isom Global Strategies will host a private art experience for families in the metropolitan area Sunday, November 1, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. For more than 15 years, IGS has been a leader in creative services for print, web and multimedia, integrating creative elements in its award-winning public relations and outreach campaigns.
Possessing design portfolios with the State Department, Friendship Public Charter School, Air National Guard and the United States Marine Corps, among others, the event seeks to engage youth and highlight emerging artist Karla Reid, a mixed media collage artist specializing in colorful, large-scale figurative paintings.
The family-friendly event, titled Curators and Cocktails, will provide guests with the opportunity to purchase Reid’s artwork. Children are invited to attend and participate in arts and crafts activities that complement Reid’s design aesthetic. A portion of the proceeds raised from the art show will benefit Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
“Now you have the opportunity to see what others and I see and experience,” said Isom. “Please join me for our first-ever event celebrating this extraordinary artist’s works and passions.”
Reid’s unique style comes from intense study, discipline and inspiration. Her pieces extend beyond pastels and involve mediums such as fabric, decorative papers, acrylics and other found objects. The Washington, D.C. resident, born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, uses the materials to tap into raw human emotions that everyone might feel at some point in their lives.
“I am inspired by color and materials as well as my thoughts and feelings about the people I meet and places I go,” said Reid. “Color is energy to me. When I go into an art store, I see the colors and the textures of all those art materials and go crazy and I can’t wait to get into the studio.”
IGS brings the same energy to its creative design projects for clients and wants to share the experience with adults and children alike.
“Our company goal is to bring creative expression to the community,” said IGS President and CEO Towan Isom. “Fine art is simply another expression of what we do for our client’s every day. Who knows? We may be inspiring the next Pablo Picasso.”
Furthermore, IGS understands that many buyers are not art investors, but individuals who fell in love with a piece and could afford to buy it.
“As a lover of Picasso and Romare Bearden, I fell in love with Karla Reid’s aesthetic,” said Isom. “When the opportunity presented itself to help a rising artist and showcase IGS’ own work in creative services, it was a natural synergy.”
The private showcase encourages guests to find a piece (or two) that will bring Reid’s beauty to their home or office. RSVPs are mandatory. Cocktails and brunch will be served.
