AAGL Advances Gynecologic Surgery at Its Annual Global Congress with Record-Setting Attendance and Number of Abstracts Submitted
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2015 -- The AAGL - Advancing Minimally Invasive Gynecology Worldwide - has registered over 27% of its total membership worldwide to attend its annual Global Congress to be held from November 15-19, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This unprecedented attendance, combined with the record-breaking number of abstracts and videos received (over 900), will make this one of their most anticipated meetings yet. AAGL is one of the largest medical specialty societies focused on gynecologic surgery and includes over 7,500 physicians and health care providers committed to advancing minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS). The theme of AAGL’s 44th Global Congress is “Advancing Gynecologic Surgery through Education, Innovation, and Objective Evaluation of Surgical Skills” and will focus on clinically relevant topics as well as recent developments, instrumentation and surgical techniques presented by expert faculty. The first two days of the meeting feature 24 state-of-the-art post-graduate courses (with continuing medical education credit) which have been “carefully reinvigorated to include practical take-home tips and emphasize hands-on experience with inanimate trainers and cadaveric models”, stated the AAGL’s Scientific Program Chair, Jon I. Einarsson, M.D., Ph.D., MPH.
In addition, there will be special sessions to tackle complex and controversial issues which AAGL believes advances the specialty by inciting lively communication and problem-solving among its membership. A recognized controversial topic in the specialty, the three routes of hysterectomy (vaginal, laparoscopic, robotic), will be examined in a special session entitled The Great Debate. Expert surgeons will moderate each route during a 20 minute unedited demonstration followed by 30-minutes of discussion and debate about the merits and pitfalls of each approach. A highly anticipated session called “Swimming with the Sharks” is a unique take on the popular ABC series Shark Tank and will give members the chance to pitch their patented idea for a novel medical device to a panel of industry experts who will give them immediate feedback and potential for financial support.
