Behind the Headlines Roundtable, hosted by The Sanchez Team at Merrill Lynch and Gulfshore Business, focuses on projected areas of job growth, challenges to economic development, infrastructure and construction, and impact of financial markets on Southwest Florida businesses.

Craig Jones and Amy Atherholt, broker associates with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, were two of 37 area professionals invited to attend the first Behind the Headlines Roundtable on October 28 in Naples. The event, hosted by Merrill Lynch and Gulfshore Business, focused on projected areas of expansion and job growth, potential challenges to financial and economic development, infrastructure and construction, and changes in financial markets as they potentially impact Southwest Florida businesses. Dudley Goodlette, board chairman of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and former state representative, was the keynote speaker. Panel members included: Dr. Allen S. Weiss, president and CEO of Naples Community Hospital; Susan McManus, president of Champions for Learning; Jay Howard, founder and principal of BUILD LLC; Alicia C. Sanchez, vice president and wealth management advisor, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management; Michael Timmerman, principal at MJT Realty Economic Advisors; and, Georgia Hiller, Collier County Commissioner. Phil Borchmann, editor of Gulfshore Business, moderated a lively discussion.

“As a real estate consultant, I look for ways to increase my understanding of issues that impact the way people live in Naples,” said Jones. “Knowledge about projected expansion, economic development, and environmental planning: that’s what allows me to serve my clients effectively as Naples home expert.” A Naples resident since 2002, Jones’ career in real estate spans 13 years; during that time she consistently ranked among Naples top 20 realtors, closing more than $180 million in transactions. She also served as Vice President of Marketing for the firm.

Added Atherholt: “All realtors are really small business owners. But I have owned real estate broker franchises in my career and I understand the importance of intelligent economic development to area businesses and the people that they serve. Roundtables like this one are so informative.” Amy is a real estate professional with twenty-five years of experience working in the Naples area market and ten years of real estate experience in Pennsylvania. She is a former owner/broker of three real estate franchises and a certified appraiser. She has been recognized as a Top Producer and Best in Client Satisfaction Five Star Award by Gulfshore Life for eight years and recognized by the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce for her career contribution to the real estate market.
