Boston Children’s Museum Receives International Lifetime Achievement Award
Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 02, 2015 -- Boston Children’s Museum today announced that it was the recipient of the 2015 Children in Museums Award for Lifetime Achievement at the tenth edition of the Hands On! International Conference, organized by the Rijksmuseum and the Jewish Cultural Quarter in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The Children in Museum Award was established in 2011 by the European Museum Academy and Hands On! to recognize excellence in programs and exhibitions for children worldwide. Applications are accepted from children’s museums and from education, children and youth departments in museums and science centers.
In explaining the award, the International Association of Children in Museums and the European Museum Academy said, “Boston Children’s Museum reflects the best developments in museology for children, in education and in communication. They made learning a core part of their mission, but they have put children and their needs and interests at the heart of it. Boston Children’s Museum is innovative, constantly finding new ways to be a place which combines exploration, discovery and learning...”
“It is very gratifying to receive this award,” said Carol Charnow, President and CEO of Boston Children’s Museum. “I speak for all of the previous leaders and staff of the Museum who have made it a remarkable engine of creativity, learning and advocacy for children, when thanking the European Museum Academy and Hands On! for this recognition.”
The judges presented two lifetime achievement awards this year. Thirty-seven museums took part in the competition this year, with a short-list of eight finalists listed below:

The Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Fridays until 9:00 p.m. Adults, $16, children (1-15) and senior citizens, $16; children under 12 months and Museum members are always free. Fridays 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., all visitors $1.
