Azuga Insight Mobile App Now Available To Participants in OReGO Road Usage Charge Program
San Jose, Calif. (PRWEB) November 02, 2015 -- Azuga today announced immediate availability of the Azuga Insight mobile application as well as the addition of four exciting new features to its suite of value-added services for participants in OReGO, the nation's first pay-by-the-mile program that was launched this summer by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
Available for use on both Android and iOS phones and tablets, the Azuga Insight mobile application now includes these innovative new features:
• Vehicle Health - provides valuable vehicle diagnostic information when the “Check Engine” light illuminates. Drivers can save money on repairs and approach their mechanic with confidence.
• Geofencing (Safe Zones) - allows the vehicle owner to designate “safe zones” for anyone driving his vehicle (i.e. a teenager or elderly family member) and receive real-time alerts when the vehicle has entered or exited an area of concern. Mom can relax knowing that Johnny arrived home from class despite the icy roads.
• Battery Voltage - shows the voltage level of the vehicle battery. Like the Vehicle Health and SafeZones features, Battery Voltage provides real-time alerts and weekly summary emails if requested by the driver.
• 2MyCar - allows the driver to use his smart phone as a guide to his car with either turn-by-turn directions or a straight-line route.
• Find It Forward - a one-touch, location search and navigation interface that knows what destinations to show the driver based on where he is and what direction he is already headed.
These new services have been added to the existing features immediately available to drivers who sign up with Azuga, including:
• Enrollment in the OReGO Road Usage Charge (RUC) Program
• Hassle-free, pre-paid RUC processing
• Trip Logs with Carbon Footprint information
• Driver Scoring and tips to help reduce gas consumption
• Badges for Safe Driving Behavior and Participation
• Rewards for Safe Driving and Participation

“We're excited to provide Oregon drivers with an easy, accurate method of obtaining analytical information about the use and health of their vehicles, as well as provide information that encourages safe driving habits,” said Nate Bryer, vice president of innovation at Azuga. “Through the OReGO program, we also provide drivers with an easy way to be a part of a fair, innovative solution for roads and infrastructure funding. A driver who plugs the Azuga device into her car can enjoy all of the Azuga features with her smart phone, tablet or computer.”
While the Azuga system delivers highly complex analytic measurements and information, operating it is simple and straightforward. Azuga Insight is engineered to ensure the highest level of encryption and security to protect personal information.
How OReGO Works
Participants in the OReGO RUC Program have a choice of technology providers through which they can enroll in the program. Since the OReGO program launched in July 2015, more than 60 percent of participants have signed up with Azuga.
Once drivers who enroll via the Azuga Website are approved by ODOT, which has limited participation in the OReGO test program to 5,000 total vehicles in various categories, they receive an on-board diagnostic (OBD) device from Azuga. The customer plugs in the device and sets up a payment method for funding their digital wallet, which is then used to pay RUC fees. Each month, Azuga submits the customer's RUC fees to ODOT on behalf of the customer. Azuga sends only mileage and RUC data to ODOT. No other information such as location, speed or behaviors is shared with ODOT. All data is sent directly from the device to the Azuga servers. No data from an Azuga device in a car ever stops at ODOT servers.
RUC is calculated once daily and charges are then subtracted from the customer's wallet. With Azuga Insight, RUC calculation takes into account fuel usage and the taxes the customer already paid at the pump. Azuga Insight OReGO customers pay only the difference between the 1.5¢ per mile road usage charge and the fuel taxes they already paid at the pump.
