SpectraCal and X-Rite Partner to Incorporate New ColorChecker Video Targets in Video Calibration Software
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (PRWEB) October 30, 2015 -- X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, and its subsidiary Pantone LLC, has partnered with Seattle software developer SpectraCal, Inc. to include X-Rite’s recently announced ColorChecker Video targets in SpectraCal’s CalMAN video calibration software. CalMAN, is the most widely used video calibration solution in the world and it has included X-Rite ColorChecker targets in its CalMAN5 software since 2012.
X-Rite introduced the physical versions of its brand-new ColorChecker Video targets last week at Photo Plus Expo. Aimed at video professionals and hobbyists alike, the new targets offer a more intuitive way to obtain accurate color balance and control of images, resulting in higher quality color, better match with multiple cameras and less editing time.
SpectraCal is showing a digital version of the new targets in a preview of CalMAN 5.61 this week at the annual SMPTE Technical Conference in Hollywood. Also on display will be the CalMAN C6 and C6-HDR colorimeters, manufactured by X-Rite and customized to SpectraCal requirements, the hardware component required for monitor calibration.
“The new targets include an increased number of skin tone patches to help colorists, cinematographers, and other color-critical professionals properly gauge hue accuracy,” said Derek Smith, Founder and CTO, SpectraCal.
ColorChecker Video also includes extra grayscale steps close to the highlight and shadow regions in addition to an expanded chromatic row.

So it made perfect sense to use the new X-Rite ColorChecker targets as the final check in CalMAN.”
