Ahead of men’s health awareness month, Willowglade Technologies announces a new free app from allows men with prostate cancer to better manage their cancer journey. Among other functions the app provides a secure messaging platform to share documents and communicate with friends and family about their condition, in a way that is personal but not embarrassing.
The Prostate Cancer Journey app is available for iPad and iPhone® Devices, and will soon also be available for Android™ Devices.
“Men are less likely than women to be open about their health concerns, in particular when it comes to a diagnosis that may affect their sexuality,” said John Papandrea, CEO and President of Willowglade Technologies. “Among other functions, the My Prostate Cancer Journey app helps bridge the gap and provides a personalized experience for any man who wants to know more about his situation and how to make smart choices through better management of his illness.”
In the U.S. there will be approximately 221,000 men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, according to the American Cancer Society. Among other famous individuals Robert DeNiro, Arnold Palmer, Joe Torre and Colin Powell have all had the disease.
“When men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, they often feel confused and worried because they cannot foresee the final outcome of their quality of life during and after treatment,” Papandrea said.
With breast cancer however, it’s no secret that Angelina Jolie’s sharing of her personal cancer journey has had a profound impact on women and how they deal with their own cancer. But men who have prostate cancer are less likely to be open about their disease.
“This new app will help prostate cancer patients better understand their condition and treatment, and aid them in effectively communicating to friends and family," Papandrea said.
Build on the Willowglade Technologies Personalized Patient Experience Platform®, The My Prostate Cancer Journey app is free and available in 17 countries. This helps patients directly access the information and management tools they need, and is designed to produce better outcomes no matter the individual’s particular situation.
