We are proud to have eight fencers who hold national ranking by the USFA, says David Arias, BFC President!

Birmingham Fencing Club is off to a great start for the 2015/16 fencing season with 3 of the top-ranked fencers in the nation calling BFC home! Competing nationally in men's Y10 foil, Connor Williams (Pelham) is ranked 10th, with Andrew Chen (Vestavia Hills) ranked 12th, and brother Allen Chen (Vestavia Hills) ranked 15th, according to national points standings. Although Andrew Chen just turned 10, Andrew is also ranked nationally in the older men's Y12 division, where he competes fiercely against fencers up to the age of 13.

Birmingham saber fencer Adam Martin (Birmingham) is ranked in the top 60, nationally, for Y14 men's saber, and Brian Chen (Birmingham) is ranked top 35 for Y12 men's saber. Wei Chee Chen (Birmingham) competes nationally and internationally in women's foil and is nationally ranked. Ronald Yuan (Birmingham) competes in men's saber and is ranked 40th in the nation. Noah Gentry (Birmingham) recently earned a "D rating" in saber during the Svetlana Chayevsky Atlanta Fencing Classic SYC in Atlanta; and Noah is ranked 43rd, nationally.

While Birmingham Fencing Club is nationally competitive, most of their fencers are recreational. "We are proud to have eight fencers who hold national ranking by the USFA; and we have lots of fencers who place well during regional tournaments, too," says David Arias, BFC President.
