American Diabetes Association Hosts Victory Over Diabetes Macon Event
Macon, GA (PRWEB) November 01, 2015 -- The American Diabetes Association (ADA) will host Victory Over Diabetes Macon, an information and resource event on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Tubman Museum in Macon. The ADA encourages all family members to attend the organization’s largest one-stop information and resource event in the Southeast to learn more about diabetes programs, advocacy activities as well as research being conducted in the Macon area.
According to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey, in 2010, diabetes was prevalent among adults in the state of Georgia by 9.7% (703,289) with a 10.2% (39,473) prevalence among adults in macon alone. In the state of Georgia, diabetes impacts both sexes and crosses cultural and geographic boundaries. People with diabetes can take steps to manage diabetes and lower the risk of its deadly complications by receiving early diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
“Victory over Diabetes is for all people affected by diabetes, as well as anyone interested in living healthy and helping to change the future of diabetes,” says Rená Cozart, Regional Director for the South Region of the American Diabetes Association.
This free event is open to all ages and will provide the community with an opportunity to receive free health screenings, participate in powerful workshops and speak with endocrinologists and leading experts about diabetes prevention and management.
