Crus Bourgeois du Médoc Announce Awaited 2013 Vintage Selection
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 02, 2015 -- The Crus Bourgeois du Médoc (http://www.crubourgeois.com), one of the oldest and most prestigious classifications in Bordeaux, are proud to announce their eagerly awaited official chateaux selections for the 2013 vintage.
In a year described as being one of the tougher years for Bordeaux wine growers, 251 Left Bank chateaux were selected (down from 267 in the 2012 official selection), totaling approximately 20 million bottles and 25% of the Médoc’s production for the vintage. Covering eight of the most prestigious Bordeaux AOCs (Médoc, Haut-Médoc, Listrac-Médoc, Moulis, Margaux, Saint Julien, Paulliac and Saint Estéphe), the 251 chateaux underwent a rigorous selection process in order to be classified as Cru Bourgeois, which included meeting strict quality standards and a blind tasting verified by an independent body.
“There was a strong cut in the number of wines submitted this year due to the difficulty of the vintage, but we feel that our stringent judging process has safeguarded quality in a year where there are some incredible wines for earlier drinking,” noted Frédérique Dutheillet de Lamothe, Director of the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Médoc. “Following on from the success of our promotional campaign for the 2012 Official Selection, the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc are excited to release our 2013 vintage wines around the world, particularly in the United States. Our growth in this important market proves that American wine lovers are once again excited about Bordeaux, and seeking diverse, value-driven wines that can be enjoyed in the short to medium term.”
Since 2013, the number of Crus Bourgeois du Médoc distributed in the U.S. has grown from 130 to 180. Today, nearly 70% of the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc are available on the U.S. market and in most fine wine stores throughout the country. Each bottle of the 20 million 2013 vintage wines will be authenticated with a QR code sticker that guarantees the quality of the wines that are bottled and enables Cru Bourgeois wines to be easily identified.
