PTC is keeping the other IoT players on their toes, and that’s a very good thing for the entire space.

Reaching a goal is tough enough. Surpassing it is even harder. PTC shows us what it takes to break through the brink in M2M and IoT (Internet of Things).
Connected World magazine is proud to honor PTC, http://www.ptc.com, with a spot on the 2016 CW 100. The network platform provider jumped up the list to number 21.
PTC has shown it is capable of reaching goals all across the spectrum. In 2013, the company acquired ThingWorx, a platform provider for operating applications for the IoT that became viable for a variety of industries, generating further revenue. Its most recent 6.0 version of the platform provided more features and increased performance of the solutions.
PTC has also exceeded a target of 200 new IoT customers for this fiscal year. This surge in business came from another lucrative acquisition, this time with ColdLight. Together, they have designed products to coordinate PTC’s technology with ColdLight’s work in artificial intelligence and analytics to supply new and preexisting marketplaces. A third big acquisition for the company is the Axeda acquisition.
“We’ve watched PTC with interest during the past few years. Jim Heppelmann and his team are dialed in to the IoT as evidenced by the company’s acquisitions of ThingWorx, Axeda, ColdLight, and most recently Vuforia. PTC is keeping the other IoT players on their toes, and that’s a very good thing for the entire space,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Connected World magazine.
“We are at the beginning of a disruptive wave where a combination of new technologies like IoT, big data analytics, and augmented reality will together dramatically change the way we interact with the products or things that can positively impact the way we live,” says Jim Heppelmann, president and CEO, PTC. “PTC is honored to be included with this elite group of technology leaders that are driven by imagination and creativity to change the world.”
An overview of the 2016 CW 100 is featured in the Oct/Nov 2015 issue of Connected World; however the ranking and in-depth analysis is found exclusively in the new Member Hub online.
