(PRWEB) November 04, 2015 -- Haiku Learning, a leading digital learning platform developed for K-12 schools and districts, announced today that it has signed the Student Privacy Pledge developed by the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).
While schools and districts increasingly adopt new digital tools to educate students, parents and families are grappling with a variety of student data concerns. In response to those concerns, the Student Privacy Pledge was born. The pledge outlines a common set of principles regarding the protection and responsible use of student personal information by educational service providers.
"Haiku Learning is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our student users,” said Bryan Falcón, CEO and co-founder of Haiku Learning. “Our company was founded and developed on the pillars of simplicity, harmony, and community. Ensuring the safety of that community has always been, and continues to be, central to our mission."
By signing the Student Privacy Pledge, Haiku Learning and other service providers are accountable to:
• Not sell student information
• Not behaviorally target advertising
• Use data for authorized education purposes only
• Not change privacy policies without notice and choice
• Enforce strict limits on data retention
• Support parental access to, and correction of errors in, their children’s information
• Provide comprehensive security standards
• Be transparent about collection and use of data
