The Inn and Spa at Loretto has partnered with IAIA during a long term partnership that will showcase Native student and alumni artists' work throughout the hotel property. Launching during Native American Heritage Month, the kick off will include a pop up gallery in the hotel's Living Room and is part of the larger Art and Soul of Santa Fe Program that the hotel developed to give guests an authentic art experience in Santa Fe.

Santa Fe’s Inn and Spa at Loretto, A Destination Hotel, is partnering with the Institute of American Indian Art (IAIA) to showcase emerging Native artists during a pop up gallery event and live paint on November 6, 2015 from 6-9 pm in the Living Room to honor Native American Heritage Month. Participating student artists include Anthony Gchachu (Zuni Pueblo), George Alexander (Muscogee Creek), LeRoy Grafe, Melissa Shaginoff (Chickaloon Village/Pyramid Lake), Monty Little (Navajo Nation) and August Walker (Sac And Fox Nation of Oklahoma). This event is part of the larger programming that will be developed as a result of the hotel’s partnership with IAIA.

By developing relationships with IAIA, the Inn aims to grow their already well-established “Art and Soul of Santa Fe™” program through the addition of student artists to the Inn’s repertoire. Student art pieces and outdoor sculptures will become fixtures on site at the Inn at Loretto. Most of the pieces will be for sale. Additionally, ongoing art events will take place at the Inn throughout the year. The Inn is also working on developing a student holiday showcase as well as an exhibition leading up to Indian Market in 2016.

“The opportunities provided to IAIA students from our relationship with Inn and Spa at Loretto are countless,” said Nocona Burgess, IAIA instructor and artist. “From exposing their work to a new audience, to having them interact with guests as well as the opportunity for them to possibly make their first sale, this program is unique and important to IAIA and the students involved. We look forward to a long and mutually-beneficial partnership with one of the great properties in Santa Fe."

“We are thrilled to create this unique partnership with IAIA and feel it only furthers our mission to elevate guests’ experience on property, and in Santa Fe, through a deeper connection and understanding of the arts,” said Tom McCann, General Manager.

The “Art and Soul of Santa Fe™” program aims to connect guests with the rich and diverse arts of Santa Fe through extensive partnerships with local galleries and independent artists. The focus of the program is on connection and education, helping to foster a deeper connection to the arts through an impressive collection of art, as well as an array of unique and interactive art events, including:

  •     Daily Artist in Residence Program
  •     Self-guided art & history tour
  •     Ongoing Pop-up Galleries
  •     Art workshops
