Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) November 04, 2015
Special Olympics Maryland held their Bocce & BBQ events at six participating Famous Dave’s BBQ locations throughout Maryland. The inaugural event, which was free of charge, united Special Olympics athletes with members of the community for a day of fun competitive bocce ball, music and of course BBQ. MyWay Mobile Storage donated 2 portable storage units that the Special Olympics staff filled with Bocce ball equipment that needed to be transported from one event location to the next.
The events took place on multiple Saturdays throughout the months of September and October. Each event was held in the parking lot of a Famous Dave’s Barbecue Restaurant. The Columbia and Bel Air events took place on September 19th. The Timonium and Germantown events took place on September 26 and Annapolis and Frederick events took place on October 17th. Donations and funds raised at the events supported Special Olympics Maryland and the respective County-based Special Olympics affiliates.
The mission of Special Olympics Maryland is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Maryland and MyWay Mobile Storage have partnered for the past 6 years. “It is our pleasure to donate our portable storage units for such a worthy cause. We have met some wonderful people over at SOMD over the years, and we enjoy being relied on by the staff for on-site storage during the events, as well as, the safe transportation of their necessary equipment,” said Steve Hudson, Operations Manager of MyWay Mobile Storage.
