Visit Pensacola Invites Travelers to Experience “Most Enjoyable City of the Year”
Pensacola, Fla. (PRWEB) November 09, 2015 -- Visit Pensacola invites travelers to head south to the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast and experience the 2015 “Most Enjoyable City of the Year” - Pensacola, Florida. CheapOair, a leading hybrid online and traditional travel agency, awarded Pensacola the distinction at the inaugural CheapOair Owards in New York City in October.
Pensacola was one of three Southern cities voted a 2015 Gold Winner by visitors to the online site. Savannah, Georgia, was named “Most Affordable City of the Year,” and New Orleans was named “Most Effortless City of the Year.”
Nominated alongside Pensacola in the “Most Enjoyable” category were Albuquerque, New Mexico; Newport, Rhode Island; Honolulu, Hawaii and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
“It’s truly an honor to see Pensacola recognized not only for its natural beauty but also for its culture, history, Southern hospitality and charm,” said Steve Hayes, president of Visit Pensacola.
The CheapOair Owards recognized 15 American cities that best embody the brand’s mission to make travel effortless, affordable and enjoyable. A panel of internal travel experts with years of collective travel and travel-booking experience chose the finalist cities.
Independent online voters then narrowed those finalists to three Gold Winners.
“The winners of the popular vote truly make travel effortless, affordable and enjoyable — just like we strive to do every day at CheapOair,” CheapOair CEO Sam Jain said.
“Travelers booking their next trip to the winning city of Pensacola can rest assured they’ll enjoy an effortless, budget-friendly and enjoyable travel experience,” Jain said.
The award comes on the heels of a string of national recognition for the Pensacola Bay Area. Florida’s Gulf Islands National Seashore, which stretches from Pensacola Beach to Perdido Key, won the USA TODAY title of Best Florida Beach in its 10Best Readers’ Choice poll in early 2015. Pensacola Beach ranked No. 5 out of the top 25 best beaches in the United States in TripAdvisor's annual Travelers' Choice Awards.
In July 2015, CheapOair named Pensacola the “Foodie Paradise You Never Knew About” for its Creole, Cajun and Southern-inspired cuisine. And in August, USA TODAY ranked Florida’s Gulf Islands National Seashore No. 2 in its “10Best Naturally Preserved Shorelines” in America.
