People have questions about where to focus their best efforts with Hadoop. The guide and tool for Hadoop Readiness Assessment provide answers for many of these questions.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 04, 2015
TDWI, the leading source for in-depth education and research on all things data, today announced its new online Hadoop Readiness Assessment Tool, a browser-based questionnaire that asks how prepared an enterprise is to get full value from Hadoop. The groundbreaking tool objectively measures an enterprise’s readiness to adopt and implement Hadoop in their own environment and presents scores for five key dimensions.
The accompanying TDWI Hadoop Readiness Guide provides a primer on Hadoop, an explanation of the Readiness Model that the assessment scores are based on, and tips for interpreting these scores. The guide helps users prepare to complete the Assessment Tool and interpret the scores displayed at the end of the questionnaire, but it is equally valuable as a standalone introduction to Hadoop and best practices for success.
An enterprise’s readiness is assessed across the five key dimensions: organizational readiness, big data readiness, data management readiness, analytics readiness, and IT readiness. Questions in the online assessment are weighted differently depending on their relative importance. Because organizations can be at different readiness levels in each of these five dimensions, the tool scores each section separately and also provides an overall score that participants can compare to averages of other organizations.
“At TDWI we regularly communicate with a wide range of people and work with organizations that are considering Hadoop as part of their solutions for big data, advanced analytics, data warehouse modernization, data exploration, and so on,” writes Fern Halper, director of TDWI Research for advanced analytics, in the guide. “They all have questions about where to focus their best efforts with Hadoop, and the guide and tool for Hadoop Readiness Assessment provide answers for many of these questions.”
