Historic Blue Moon Hotel in Miami’s South Beach Completes Full Renovation
Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 04, 2015 -- The historic Blue Moon Hotel – located in the heart of Miami’s Art Deco District– just completed a full renovation with updates to all 75 guestrooms, the lobby, terrace, pool and patio. The new design celebrates the hotel’s rich history with modern design touches that add a playful flair and give a nod to Palm Beach prep. The hotel is an affiliate of Marriott’s Autograph Collection and is a proud member of HHM’s Independent Collection.

Housed in a Mediterranean Revival building located on Collins Avenue, Blue Moon Hotel was created in 1997 through the artful combination of two unique buildings: the Lafayette Hotel, which originally opened in 1934 and the Florel Apartment Hotel (later known as Les Suites) built in 1940. Merv Griffin, the late entertainer and hotelier, once owned the hotel and actually gave the hotel its name after the song “Blue Moon” written by Rodgers and Hart. (Griffin was always particularly fond of the tune.)
The lobby has kept its historic design with the renovation, but now has a sophisticated yet playful color palate of neutrals with bursts of bright blues and greens. Overhead, the ceiling is painted with thousands of stars over a midnight blue sky. Vintage-inspired furniture in plush velvet creates an inviting place to sit and people watch.
Outside on the veranda, guests can enjoy cocktails while surrounded by a perimeter of lush ivy and greens, the entire outside is evocative of a private estate. When night falls, there is no need to move, as the lantern lights allow for enjoyment well past sunset – in true Miami style.
