BPI Sports' Donates $2,500 After Social Media "Lift in Pink" Initiative During Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Hollywood, FL (PRWEB) November 05, 2015 -- BPI Sports honored National Breast Cancer Awareness month with the social media-savvy “Lift in Pink” initiative. Throughout October, BPI encouraged the public to post a photo of themselves wearing the color pink while engaging in any physical activity involving exercise and fitness, using the hashtags #LIFTINPINK and #BPISPORTS. Co-founders James Grage and Derek Ettinger offered to donate $1 to NationalBreastCancer.org per post, resulting in a $2,500 check to the organization.
According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer––a statistic that is easily preventable if caught early enough. “I personally know several individuals who have battled this horrible disease. Starting a worldwide initiative to raise awareness and as much money possible seemed to be the best way for us to help” said James Grage. “The outpouring of support from BPI Nation has been amazing. A big thank you to everyone who participated!”
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter fans came out in strong numbers on social media to show their support for the initiative by sporting pink t-shirts, sneakers, socks, and other accessories while working out. Photos of the participants can be viewed by searching the hashtag #LIFTINPINK.
