New Platform to Support Emerging Models of K-12 Teaching and Learning

eChalk is pleased to announce that the first release of the all-new eChalk platform was successfully launched on October 31. The much-anticipated all-in-one school website, group collaboration, and learning management platform has been nearly two years in the making. “This is the biggest step our company has made since we were founded in 1999,” says co-founder Daniel Watts. “We’ve completely reimagined and redesigned eChalk to meet the expectations our schools and districts have shared with us. We’re very excited to finally be able to roll it out for everyone.”

The new eChalk was built using today’s best practices and technology platforms to make it easier to use, faster to update and fully responsive for optimal performance on mobile devices. It also has new learning tools to support the ways students and teachers are using technology today, from flipped classrooms to BYOD programs. eChalk differs from most learning management systems in that it brings together LMS, website and community management tools in one platform. It gives students, parents, teachers, and staff one central place where they can find everything related to their school experience, from school announcements to homework assignments to extracurricular schedules. The new platform allows schools to:

  • Support teaching and learning: eChalk gives teachers, students and parents a learning application that acts as an online extension of the classroom. Teachers can manage digital content, create and deliver online lessons, host discussions, manage assignments and communicate with students and parents.
  • Publish school and district websites: Schools and districts can update their online image with fresh, responsive designs that look great on any device. eChalk websites are mobile-friendly, easy to navigate and easy to manage and maintain.
  • Organize their communities: Teams, clubs, PLCs and other groups can keep their communities engaged and connected with robust, easy-to-use applications for communication and collaboration. eChalk can be used to manage all kinds of school communities, from the football team to the PTA.

eChalk is continuing to build out additional features and functionality for the 2016/2017 school year. Watts says, “This is just the beginning. We’ve built a platform that will allow us to continue to expand our capabilities as classroom practices and user expectations change. This puts eChalk in the perfect position to meet the evolving needs of our students, teachers, and schools.”
