Television Academy Joins Got Your 6 Storytellers Events November 5 and 10 to Help Put Spotlight On Veterans Issues
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) November 04, 2015 -- The Television Academy is partnering on Storytellers, a Veterans Day-timed event produced by Got Your 6, the national campaign that works to bridge the civilian-military divide.
The Television Academy hopes its participation will increase awareness of the Got Your 6 campaign with a critical audience for the nonprofit: top television creators, writers, producers, studio and network executives, and performers.
Got Your 6 Storytellers events showcase veterans utilizing their unique skillset and military experience to strengthen communities across America, while also celebrating the producers and creators working to tell those stories.
“The Got Your 6 Storytellers events align with the Television Academy’s mission to foster diverse voices and narratives on television,” said Television Academy President and COO Maury McIntyre. “These events represent a dynamic platform on which to connect veterans with the creative community, with the goal of inspiring television that explores the stories of the men and women of the military in thought-provoking and meaningful ways.”
Bicoastal for the first time, the third annual Got Your 6 Storytellers East event, Thursday, November 5 at the HBO Theatre in New York, features Academy Award-winning producer Bruce Cohen (“American Beauty,” “Silver Linings Playbook”), Marine veteran and actor J.W. Cortes (“Gotham”), and Army veteran Danielle Green among many others.
In Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 10 at Paramount Pictures Studios’ Sherry Lansing Theatre. Storytellers West will feature Charlie Ebersol, CEO and founder of The Company, and former Seattle Seahawks player Nate Boyer to name a few. The onstage program will also spotlight the work of filmmaker Henry Hughes, a former paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne who conducted two combat tours in Afghanistan, and won multiple awards this year (including the Television Academy Foundation’s College Television Award) for his personal experience-inspired AFI film, “Day One.” During the event, these inspirational veterans will each deliver short talks or lead discussions in their field of expertise.
