The Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute Is First To Introduce Kybella™ To The Northern Virginia Area
(PRWEB) November 04, 2015 -- Dr. George Bitar MD, FACS, an innovator in the field of plastic surgery, announced today that the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute is now offering patients a nonsurgical procedure to remove double chin fat called Kybella™. Thanks to Kybella’s approval by the FDA earlier this year, patients now have the option of an easier and noninvasive way to remove unsightly double chin fat and avoid the downtime associated with liposuction or a face/neck lift.
According to Dr. Bitar, Kybella™ is an injection that is administered to patients with moderate to severe fat on their upper neck and chin area. The Kybella™ injection contains a molecule that naturally occurs in the body. These natural molecules eat away at the fat and keep other body cells intact and healthy.
“We are very happy to be the first to introduce Kybella to the Northern Virginia area,” said Dr. Bitar. Kybella™ is a revolutionary step for double chin removal, as previously only invasive procedures were available to patients. Kybella™ offers an effective non-surgical alternative that achieves the same results as previous surgical procedures and is the first injectable treatment designed to reduce double chin fat to be approved by the FDA.” The approval was made in April of this year.
When administering Kybella™, Dr. Bitar first treats the submental area with a local anesthesia or cream to numb the area. This results in the injections being relatively pain free. Like similar injectable treatments such as Botox, Kybella™ treatments typically take about 15 to 20 minutes to administer where patients receive up to 50 injections in one treatment. A maximum of six single 50-injection Kybella™ treatments can occur no less than a month apart.
Following a treatment there is minimal downtime, but some patients may encounter redness, swelling, mild pain, mild bruising or numbness. Typically, these side effects are resolved within a few days of the treatment. Over-the-counter pain medication or ice will ease any of these after effects. Most patients can return to work within a day or two, while those experiencing intense swelling, bruising or pain may want to wait an additional few days before returning to work.
The results of Kybella™ can vary from patient to patient. Some patients may see results last for several years, as some studies have shown Kybella™ injections can last for as long as five years. Even patients who gain moderate amounts of weight do not need retreatment. During clinical trials, Kybella™ injections resulted in the amount of fat under the chin being significantly reduced. Not only was the double chin look gone, but patients also experienced better chin contour than before.
Kybella™ is ideal for candidates over 18 years of age. Dr. Bitar recommends that patients considering Kybella™ be carefully screened by a doctor to ensure the submental fullness is fat and not the result of a serious medical condition.
