World's First Affordable Personal Air Pollution Monitor Launches on IndieGoGo
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 06, 2015 -- Atmotube, the world's first truly personal, compact and affordable air pollution monitor, has announced the launch on Nov. 9 of an IndieGoGo campaign to enable data collection and mass manufacturing of its first product. Each Atmotube will make a personal contribution to a global database on air quality. Atmotube constantly monitors the environment, accurately measuring air pollution and the presence of a wide range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and harmful gases like Carbon Monoxide (CO), temperature and humidity. It sends an alert when the environment is not safe.
Sensors inside Atmotube keep constant track of the air parameters and send data to the phone via Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) protocol. In the settings the user can select how often she wants measurements to be taken.
If the air quality gets below certain point, the user will immediately receive an alert notification. The button on Atmotube can also be set for "Continuous Mode" and the device will take 10 measurements each second. This feature can be very helpful for those trying to find a source of air pollution indoors or outdoors. Users can always access all measurements, an air quality map, and a personal air score from the mobile phone, which will help them make the right choices and live healthier.
According to Vera Kozyr, co-founder of Atmotube, "every day, we unconsciously take more than 20,000 thousand breaths and don't even think about most of them. Unless we have a problem, we don't think about WHAT we're breathing in either, and how what's in the air might affect our bodies."
"Over time, Kozyr continued, "exposure to carbon monoxide and volatile organic compounds has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, liver and brain damage, and even cancer. As our air gets worse, more people get asthma or COPD -- especially children and the elderly. Most people don't find out they've been exposed to toxic air until it's too late, so we decided to create a beautiful and functional object that can seamlessly become part of your life, alerting you to potential danger in the air."
Because Atmotube can be used both indoors and outside, it is the most compact and truly portable air quality tracker that the world knows today. The aggregated environmental data is shared to a global air quality map that is free to use for everyone.
