World’s First Internet-Connected Hockey Net and Scoreboard Launches at Maker Faire Ottawa

Design 1st will be demonstrating the world’s first Internet-connected hockey net and scoreboard through an interactive skills competition at the Ottawa Maker Faire, Nov 7-8.

Three Canadian companies came together to develop the world’s first Internet-connected hockey net that will be on display at the Ottawa Maker Faire 2015, Canada’s first featured Maker Faire.

The hockey net will demonstrate the functionality of Fantasy Scoreboard Inc’s new Internet-connected (IoT) NHL hockey scoreboard, an exciting project that two local Ottawa product development companies Design 1st (hardware) and Macadamian (cloud and apps) brought to life.

Fantasy Scoreboard’s internet connected scoreboard will be integrated into the hockey net and updated dynamically through a Wi-Fi connection. Ottawa Maker Faire attendees will get to see how this one-of-a-kind system works and try out their shooting skills to be entered into draws for Senator tickets and other prizes.

Although the hockey net is only a fun prototype at this point, it highlights the impact that connected devices will soon have on almost everything in our daily lives.
