APSP Presents Industry's Premier Builder Award to John Migliaccio and Bill Shehan
LAS VEGAS (PRWEB) November 09, 2015 -- The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) has recognized John Migliaccio, CBP, The Pool & Spa Place, and Bill Shehan, CBP, Shehan Pools, as the 2015 co-recipients of the CBP Certified Building Professional® of the Year Award.
The CBP of the Year Award, now in its ninth year, is given annually to a CBP who has advanced the pool building profession through outstanding achievements and dedication to the industry.
Migliaccio and Shehan received this peer-nominated award during the 2015 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo in Las Vegas.

Migliaccio has been an APSP volunteer for 25 years starting at the local level serving as president of the Metro NY/NJ Chapter of APSP. He has also been active regionally with service in a variety of roles, including president of the Northeast Pool & Spa Association (NESPA). Nationally, he has been involved with the APSP Builder’s Council for 10 years and served as a member of the Builder’s Education Committee. He also served as a judge for the annual APSP International Awards of Excellence program.
Migliaccio was one of the key proponents of pool and spa licensure in the state of New Jersey. His efforts have led to the introduction a bill that would require licensure for pool and spa builders and installers. He has been active in the community as well, serving as the NESPA representative to the Special Olympics and serving on a committee to coordinate the construction of a therapeutic swimming pool for an injured combat veteran.
Bill Shehan has been in the pool, spa and hot tub industry since 1972. He has been involved with APSP, previously NSPI, at the local and regional level, promoting higher standards in the industry and delivering innovative and beautiful designs to customers. His designs have won numerous awards at the local, regional and national level and even garnered attention on a 2013 episode of HGTV’s Cool Pools.
Shehan has been a CBP since 2003 and previously managed an annual trade show in the Cincinnati area. He has been promoting swimming pools, spas and hot tubs as a member of the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association and the local Chamber of Commerce for over 40 years. Shehan has dedicated himself to service in his community through his church and the Redwood School for severely handicapped and learning disabled students. He also supports the work of Kicks for Kids, an organization founded by a former Cincinnati Bengal kicker Doug Pelfrey, to meet the needs of at-risk inner city children.
APSP's CBP designation is earned through a standardized written examination that measures knowledge of residential and commercial pool and spa construction. Applicants for the designation must meet industry experience requirements and, once the designation is earned, participate in ongoing education to maintain the certification. The program emphasizes a commitment to ethical standards and to the highest standards of construction and workmanship through adherence to national pool and spa standards.
