Experience Maritime Maine to Hold Fall Stakeholder Meeting
(PRWEB) November 07, 2015 -- Experience Maritime Maine (EMM) will hold its second bi-annual stakeholder meeting on Thursday, November 12, from 1PM – 3PM at the Penobscot East Resource Center in Stonington. This meeting will offer a special tour of the Penobscot East Resource Center at noon, as well as a presentation from featured guest speaker Chris Fogg, Chief Executive Officer of the Maine Tourism Association. Anyone interested in heritage tourism development and promoting the maritime assets of the region is invited to attend.
Experience Maritime Maine is a multi-regional initiative whose mission is to celebrate the rich heritage, culture, and dramatic natural beauty of Maine's coast through collaborative promotion of an array of experiences. EMM was developed by a number of member organizations from across the state (who now form the Advisory Group), including the Downeast Lobstermen’s Association, Abbe Museum, Maine Office of Tourism, Maine Midcoast Chamber, and more.
“Experience Maritime Maine is all about making connections between Maine’s diverse waterfront communities and visitors, so it is especially exciting to have Penobscot East Resource Center, a leader in Maine fisheries issues, host Experience Maritime Maine!” said Natalie Springuel of Maine Sea Grant.
Beginning in November, Experience Maritime Maine will also hold public forums in six coastal Maine communities. The purpose of these informal gatherings is to collect stories concerning coastal communities to guide the topics for a series of audio story podcasts. This series is intended to tell the story and deepen the understanding of life along the Coast of Maine.
The audio story podcasts will be produced by longtime documentary radio and story producer, Rob Rosenthal, and are made possible through major funding provided by the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation and the Maine Community Foundation.
For more information about the podcasts, or to learn how to attend a community forum, please contact Kathy Goldner at 207-548-2529 ext. 216, or info(at)experiencemaritimemaine(dot)org.
