Acclaimed Performer and Scholar Hill Joins Yamaha Percussion Artist Roster
INDIANAPOLIS (PRWEB) November 09, 2015 -- Yamaha today announced the addition of renowned performer and scholar Dr. Julie Hill to the Percussion Artist roster.
Hill, the current president of the Percussive Arts Society, is the director of percussion studies at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she has received the prestigious Cunningham Outstanding Teacher/Scholar Award, the University of Tennessee Alumni Association Outstanding Teacher Award and the Hardy Graham Distinguished Professorship Award.

Hill co-authored a collection of solos and duets entitled Music for Multi Percussion: A World View, along with numerous publications with Innovative Percussion and Row-Loff Productions. Her scholarly research has been published in the Garland World Music Encyclopedia and Percussive Notes.
As a member of the Caixa Percussion Trio, Hill has performed across the United States and in Brazil, France, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea and at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. She also conducts workshops, lectures and concerts nation-wide on Brazilian music, along with the topic of music and social transformation for black women and at-risk children in Northeastern Brazil.
She earned a Doctor of Music Arts degree from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
