Visioneering Studios and YMCA, Deliver Community Center with Crosspointe Church in Cary, NC
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2015 -- Fast-growing Crosspointe Church in Cary, North Carolina is breaking ground on “The Why Project” on November 15, 2015.
Visioneering Studios Architecture, part of Visioneering’s family of companies that provide design and construction services nationally and was founded by former Disney Imagineers, is facilitating the process of turning this church campus “inside out” and creating a “destination that lifts the mind, body and spirit.”
Crosspointe Church partnered with the YMCA of the Triangle to address several needs identified in the community—bored teens with no activities or place to connect, a growing (although non-violent) crime rate, and new residents who lacked the support of friends and family. The Cary community, known for its three nearby universities (North Carolina State University, Duke University and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill), and its proximity to the Research Triangle in Raleigh, N.C., is home to more than 150,000 residents.
“We believed it was in the community’s best interest to partner with another great organization, The YMCA of the Triangle, to do more together than either of us could do separately to positively affect people’s lives in this region,” said Jonathon Bow, Lead Pastor at Crosspointe Church.
As part of the partnership, the YMCA of the Triangle will independently operate a 60,000 square foot community recreation center, complete with an outdoor pool, seven-days-a-week on Crosspointe-owned property. The YMCA secured a 20-year lease agreement with Crosspointe Church who is funding the development of the project. The church and the YMCA will share facilities and parking, which allows both entities to build less space than if each were on independent sites.
“One of the questions I often get in the community is ‘Why? Why would a church do something like this?’ I think every church should ask the question, ‘How can we best serve the specific community around us?’ And our desire is to serve the community really well,” Bow said, adding that the project will help to create nearly 200 new jobs in Northwest Cary.
Visioneering’s design makes innovative use of its picturesque surroundings, and will feature spacious indoor areas for worship and gatherings as well as new children’s ministry and student ministry spaces that will be used by the YMCA for their child care and camp programs during the week.
“To our shared knowledge, this (The Why Project) isn’t something that has been done before, but we’re hopeful it becomes paradigm shifting in our city and across the country for how people and organizations can come together to do more together to serve the greater good of everyone,” Bow said.

About Crosspointe Church:
Crosspointe Church is a community of people trying to trust Jesus when He said that the best way to love God is to love people. We try to help each other wake up to the things in us that get in the way of that, and walk gracefully with one another along the way. By intentionally journeying together, we believe we can do far more good in our city and world than we can do individually. More information is available at http://www.crosspointe.org
