‘One in a Million’ Startup Competition Finals to be Streamed Live from the Kauffman Foundation
Kansas City, Mo. (PRWEB) November 10, 2015 -- The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, as a part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, is hosting the first-ever “One in a Million” pitch competition for startup entrepreneurs. The competition kicked off in July and will culminate during a live-streamed event Nov. 18, 9:00 a.m. CST at http://www.kauffman.org/1nam.
One in a Million is a competition for businesses that have presented at a 1 Million Cups event, a free program held each week in more than 70 U.S. cities that educates, engages and connects local entrepreneurs. It is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to present their startup business idea in detail and answer questions from the audience.
From an initial pool of 377 applications, 15 entrepreneurs from nine states have been chosen as semifinalists. The semifinalists will travel to the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City for the chance to become one of five finalists who will compete in a live-streamed event Nov. 18. The winner of the One in a Million competition will receive $10,000. Second place gets $5,000, and the third-place finalist will receive $1,000.
Judges for the final competition represent business and entrepreneurship leaders from around the country:
• Marcelo Claure, president and chief executive officer of Sprint.
• Nicole Glaros, third-generation entrepreneur and partner and chief product officer of Techstars.
• Miriam Rivera, investor, entrepreneur and mentor, and Google’s first vice president and deputy general counsel.
