The Party Continues at Del Mar During Thanksgiving Weekend
Del Mar, Calif. (PRWEB) November 11, 2015 -- For San looking to freshen up their Thanksgiving traditions, Del Mar is hosting family-friendly activities, local foodie events and a free concert by SoCal ska heroes Sublime with Rome throughout the holiday weekend. The iconic racetrack also will be presenting its best racing of the fall season with seven graded stakes slated during the four afternoons.
Starting off early Thanksgiving morning Thursday, November 26, the Thoroughbreds won’t be the only ones on the track as Del Mar begins the day with its second annual Family One-Mile Fun Run. Participants will break from the starting gate at 8 a.m. and can walk, jog, or sprint around the one-mile dirt track in the footsteps of legendary horses with several Del Mar jockeys jogging alongside. Proceeds from the race go towards benefiting the Helen Woodward Animal Center, which also will be at the track hosting a puppy adoption event. Additionally, there will be a puppy race, children activities and holiday craft stations.
After the Fun Run, gates open to the public at 9:30 a.m. for a day of exciting racing with a first post of 11 a.m. Grab your closest friends and family and gather at the track to kick-back and relax before the big meal or leave the cooking and cleaning to us by planning your Thanksgiving get-together with a trackside view. Our Thanksgiving Brunch package includes a Turf Club table with a delicious three-course meal and all the trimmings paired with your choice of bottomless mimosas or Chandon.
Next up, the place “where the turf meets that surf” has your holiday shopping covered as Friday, November 27, is Black and Gold Friday where anyone 18 and up who comes through the turnstiles can enter to win one of five $1,000 Westfield gift cards, funded by American Express! The $1,000 gift cards will be drawn in between races throughout the day.
Then, if you get happy over hops, you’re in luck. The Del Mar Fall Craft Beer and Cider Festival pops off on Saturday, November 28 in the seaside concert area. More than 100 local and international brews plus a variety of seasonal ales and ciders will be on tap throughout the day. Once you’ve had your fill of suds, stay after the races and festival to catch a free concert by Sublime with Rome, who will be playing their new hit single “Wherever You Go” along with classics like “What I Got” and “Wrong Way.”
Finally, on Sunday, November 29 the track will close out the final day of Bing Crosby Season in style with the last Bing+Bubbles+Brunch where guests can experience a special three-course brunch menu in the Turf Club created by celebrity chef Brian Malarkey of Searsucker.
