National Experience Merges with Local Medical Cannabis Operations in Maryland
Chicago, Ill. (PRWEB) November 12, 2015 -- The first medical cannabis cultivation center in Illinois to be licensed and given authorization to sell its award winning medicine joins forces with Maryland natives to submit an application to the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission to operate as a grower, dispensary and processor.
Maryland Natural Treatment Solutions, LLC was spearheaded by the owners of Ataraxia, an industry leader and licensed cultivation center permit holder in Albion, Illinois. The team conducted extensive research to pull together industry leaders that have established national trends, shaped major state cannabis policy and have a demonstrated track record of successfully researching, growing and selling medical cannabis in Colorado, Illinois, Las Vegas and New York. The group formed a strategic partnership with experienced Maryland residents with a passionate desire to participate in the state’s newest healthcare industry. The team’s bid includes an application for a grower license in the town of Federalsburg, Maryland.
“We believe that medical cannabis businesses have an obligation not only to the health and well-being of the patients, but to their communities as well,” says Ross Morreale, special projects director of Maryland Natural Treatment Solutions. “Our team has a demonstrated track record of improving the economies and livelihood of the neighborhoods we serve and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring that model to Maryland.” Morreale is the chief compliance officer at Ataraxia, an Illinois based cultivation center that was the first to earn state approval to grow cannabis and was the first to harvest. Morreale is also the chairman of the Medical Cannabis Alliance of Illinois, the leading industry trade group.
"Medical cannabis operations in our town will provide us with a significant economic boost resulting in more than 50-local jobs, much needed tax revenue and an influx of foot traffic to support our local businesses," says George Mayer, grants and main street administrator of the town of Federalsburg. "With the recent loss of a major manufacturing employer this would be a critical step to rebuild our economy and put our citizens back to work."
Maryland Natural Treatment Solutions has recruited the nation’s top “organic” cannabis cultivator specializing in rare biodynamic growing techniques that ensure quality while focusing on sustainable practices. The company has already been pre-certified by:
- Clean Green, a qualified third party non-conflicted agricultural certification program that supports sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.
- Patient Focused Certification, a project of Americans for Safe Access providing third-party certification program for the medical cannabis industry based on quality standards issued by the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) and the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) cannabis monograph.
The group has a strong emphasis on public health and community support and has secured backing from four prominent local organizations including the Howard County Council, County Commissioners of Caroline County, Caroline County Health Department and Town of Federalsburg.
“We were approached by at least a dozen groups seeking our support but Maryland Natural Treatment Solutions is by far the most professional and experienced,” says Angela Visintainer, director of the Caroline Economic Development Corporation. “Their demonstrated track record of setting national standards, job creation and philanthropic spirit will make them a valued asset and partner.”
“We have established what we believe to be the most dynamic and highly skilled team in the nation,” says Mark Feld, medical director of Maryland Natural Treatment Solutions and Primary Care Imaging in Baltimore. “Our group shares a deep commitment to the communities we will serve and ensuring that the local economies benefit from the program and patients have access to the most advanced medicine available.” Feld has over 25-years of clinical and managerial experience in the practice of medicine and is among a select few to have finished the Clinical Cannabinoid Medicine Curriculum.
The Company is a majority women-owned venture.
