As a leader in an industry that relies on the sustainable growth of natural resources, ‘green’ is much more than a trend to us.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (PRWEB) November 16, 2015
To build upon the commitment Huber Engineered Woods has made to sustainability, the company is the title sponsor of the 2015 Greenbuild Unity Home on display at the Greenbuild® International Conference and Expo in Washington D.C., November 18-20, 2015.
“As a leader in an industry that relies on the sustainable growth of natural resources, ‘green’ is much more than a trend to us,” said Charlie Robinson, Vice President of Marketing at Huber Engineered Woods. “From wood sources being located close to our manufacturing sites and processes that are 99 percent landfill-free to our products being designed to help limit energy consumption, we wholeheartedly support sustainable and energy-efficient building practices. That’s why we are proud to be the title sponsor for the 2015 Greenbuild Unity Home.”
Tedd Benson, the founding owner of custom designer-builder Bensonwood Homes and Unity Homes, trusts ZIP System® sheathing and tape and AdvanTech® flooring for this project. Benson is a champion of high-performance, sustainable homebuilding—always with an emphasis on innovation, quality and social responsibility.
“Having the weather resistant barrier integrated into the sheathing eliminated another system and saved on labor costs. The ZIP System sheathing stays flat, thickness is consistent, and overall dimensions are accurate. All of that is important to our precision process and advanced machine cutting and shaping,” said Benson.
“The moisture resiliency and stability of AdvanTech flooring has helped us maintain the highest standards for our integrated building elements,” added Benson. “Even when the panels had to be stored over extended periods of time due to unforeseen delays, with AdvanTech panels, we had no delamination problems.”
The 2015 Greenbuild Unity Home has been planned, designed, constructed, inspected, and tested according to LEED for Homes version 4 program requirements and is anticipated to achieve Platinum Certification when moved to its permanent site in New Hampshire after the Greenbuild conference.
“The Greenbuild Unity Home is designed and built to the highest performance, health and sustainability standards,” said Paul Tourbaf, president of Hanley Wood’s Residential Construction Group, which helped bring the Greenbuild Unity Home to life. “The collection of products used in the construction of the home passed a very rigorous selection process. We are grateful to Huber Engineered Woods for their support.”
In-person tours will be available to Greenbuild attendees at booth #2741 on the floor of the Expo beginning Wednesday, November 18 from 10:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 19 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
