FirstService Residential Adds Two Managing Directors to Lead Multifamily Rental Management Division
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 16, 2015 -- FirstService Residential, New York’s leading property management company, has announced that industry veterans John MacGowan and Marc Kaplan have joined the firm as managing directors of its fast-expanding Multifamily Rental Management Division.
In addition to leading the growth of the company’s rental property management business, the duo will provide leadership and operational oversight of FirstService Residential’s current rental portfolio which comprises nearly 200 properties and more than 4,200 units across the five boroughs. Among the signature luxury rental properties managed by FirstService Residential are New York by Gehry at 8 Spruce Street, 20 Exchange Place, 63 & 67 Wall Street, and QLIC, Long Island City’s newest amenity-laden luxury rental tower.
"Institutional owners rely on FirstService Residential’s ability to handle all aspects of their rental property operations in order to maximize revenue and implement cost saving opportunities,” said Dan Wurtzel, president, FirstService Residential New York. “Marc and John are seasoned management professionals who each have an impressive track record of proven success as well as a genuine commitment to delivering superior value to clients.”
As part of its full service property management solution, FirstService Residential utilizes Yardi-based management software which integrates revenue management, marketing, lead generation, and digital leasing programs – all with a single focus on increasing the value of a client's assets. In addition, FirstService Residential’s exclusive energy aggregation purchasing program means clients pay considerably less for natural gas and electricity than rates charged by local utilities.
John MacGowan brings over 15 years of real estate and property management experience to FirstService Residential. In his previous role as a property manager for Rose Associates, MacGowan oversaw the day-to-day management of a portfolio of luxury rental properties in Manhattan totaling over 1,150 units. He specializes in evaluating and restructuring properties and management operations in order to maximize cash flow and investment return.
He has successfully directed the planning and implementation of many major capital improvement and construction projects, and has extensive experience in revenue management and budget analysis, effective oversight of staffing and operational procedures, and leasing operations. Well-versed in the intricate start-up requirements for newly-constructed rental buildings, MacGowan has also led the successful transition of dozens of properties from previous managing agents. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Binghamton University.
Prior to joining FirstService Residential, Marc Kaplan spent 12 years as vice president of asset and property management at Stonehenge Management. In that role, he devised and implemented strategies to reposition assets and streamline management operations in order to achieve maximum rents that yielded significant returns to property owners. Kaplan was responsible for leading and training a property management team charged with overseeing a 27-building rental portfolio comprising over 3,500 units.
In addition to his expertise in revenue enhancement, budgeting, and overseeing an array of capital improvement projects, Kaplan’s superior knowledge of New York City’s rent stabilization laws and practices will also be an asset to FirstService Residential. Kaplan received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from American University and also holds a Certificate in Property Management from New York University. He is a frequent speaker on the residential rental market at leading industry events.
