“Ann’s House of Nuts is a great example of what can be accomplished when a company focuses on sustainability.”
ROBERSONVILLE, NC (PRWEB) November 16, 2015
Ann’s House of Nuts was recently recognized as one of North Carolina’s top companies, securing the 2015 North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s (NCMEP) Leadership Award for Sustainable Manufacturing at the mfgCon 2015 conference held in Raleigh October 20-21.
“We are honored to be recognized by the NCMEP for our sustainability efforts,” said Zane Pinckney, VP of Operations for Ann’s House of Nuts’ operation in Robersonville. “We see this as a critical component of our success, because it has allowed us to reinvest millions in savings back into our operations. This has made us even more efficient and profitable.”
Sustainable manufacturing is the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes that minimize the negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. The company has successfully improved processes to reduce the release of fat, oil, and grease content into wastewater. Additionally, Ann’s House of Nuts achieved an annual cost savings of $120,000 through energy efficiency measures.
“Ann’s House of Nuts is a great example of what can be accomplished when a company focuses on sustainability,” said Rex Raiford, Regional Manager for NC State University’s Industry Expansion Solutions. “I hope to see more and more companies commit to process improvements like Ann’s House of Nuts. The savings alone should be a great motivator for companies to adopt a model like this.”
The two-day mfgCon 2015 Conference featured presentations and breakout sessions where attendees were exposed to the latest in manufacturing resources, tools and ideas. On the second day, the NCMEP announced that Ann’s House of Nuts was one of six inaugural winners of the 2015 NCMEP Leadership Award categories of Economic Development, Continuous Improvement, Innovative Practice, Workforce Development, Sustainable Manufacturing and Leadership in Manufacturing Excellence.
The North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership launched this inaugural awards ceremony to recognize companies that have proven that they can succeed and thrive in any climate and under any condition and by doing so, these companies bring prosperity to their communities as well.
