We have learnt to a profound extent that no two traders are alike. One trader may prefer 4H Bars on their terminal while others may prefer 5M Bars on their terminal. Trading horizons—if indeed they are defined at all—vary about as wildly.

“You can’t move through the pages of the financial press without stumbling across the spectre of Algorithmic Trading or the wave of Artificial Intelligence technology. They are two distinct but fascinating areas that should naturally converge,” says Richard Churchman, Managing Director of AI FX and Equity. “As a trader myself—while first and foremost being a Data Scientist—I was aware the extent to which Investment Banks use Artificial Intelligence, as they are not shy in promoting the tantalising prospect of absolute—long or short—returns in using such advances. Naturally they jealously guard their precise methods, and it was this lack of transparency that led me to undertake more research and ultimately create AI FX and Equity.”
AI FX and Equity is a cloud-based trading signals service primarily for retail traders, although it also provides investment banks a means to reduce costs associated with expensive quantitative analysts. The software adopts a unique position in the already large and yet ever growing trading signals industry. Unlike other trading signal providers, AI FX and Equity exclusively uses artificial intelligence to produce a constant trading signal predicting the direction and magnitude of change for a financial instrument across a trading horizon. Most ground-breaking is that AI FX and Equity provides its customers with the ability to create their own customised artificial intelligence trading signals.
The ability for AI FX and Equity customers to create customised artificial intelligence trading signals came about by accident, according to Richard Churchman “We have learnt to a profound extent that no two traders are alike. One trader may prefer 4H Bars on their terminal while others may prefer 5M Bars on their terminal. Trading horizons—if indeed they are defined at all—vary about as wildly. We had found ourselves glued to the customer live chat, creating customised models to exacting and varying customer requirements. Creating and maintaining artificial intelligence trading signals in this manner was time consuming, hence we created a self-service interface so that the customers can do it for themselves, freeing us up to focus on creating totally new functionality.”
It is a strategy that seems to have paid off as AI FX and Equity launch a second version of their online trading signals service at the Middle East Forex Expo in Dubai on 26 November 2015. The second version includes integration to brokers, giving functionality for the automated opening and closing of positions when the direction and magnitude of the artificial intelligence trading signal exceeds a customer defined threshold.
In this second version, AI FX and Equity seems to be an interesting shift in trading methodology and technology. AI FX and Equity could cement itself as a credible, artificial intelligence led, alternative trading platform. “Clearly we are a little way off convincing the enormous throng of traders to face into AI FX and Equity instead of their MT4 or Bloomberg terminal, but it is our stated direction,” admits Richard Churchman.
Richard Churchman’s plans for AI FX and Equity seem ambitious, yet right now AI FX and Equity have given the retail trader access to artificial intelligence trading signals that were previously the preserve of investment banks.
