Blue Acorn Launches New E-Commerce Site for Insect Lore
Charleston, S.C. (PRWEB) November 18, 2015 -- Blue Acorn, a premium eCommerce design, development and optimization agency, today announces the launch of a new eCommerce website for Insect Lore, the original butterflies-by-mail company. The site was developed on Magento Enterprise Edition, the leading eCommerce platform used by the 2015 Internet Retailer Top 1000.
Insect Lore was founded on one man’s belief that every child should have the opportunity to witness the miraculous transformation of caterpillars to butterflies. Since its inception in 1969, Insect Lore has shipped more than 50 million caterpillars across the United States. In 1999, Insect Lore’s Painted Lady Butterflies even journeyed into space on the Space Shuttle Columbia.
“Blue Acorn was a great fit for us not only because of their extensive Magento development expertise, but also because of their creativity and energy,” said Anita Veldboom, vice president of digital and social media marketing at Insect Lore. “As we looked for a long-term partner, it was important to find an agency that understood the educational and emotional value of our product and would build an innovative experience to match.”
With custom functionalities such as a travel conditions feature, which ensures that customers receive healthy caterpillars, and a butterfly stories social media streaming feature, the updated eCommerce site is vibrant and engaging, much like Insect Lore’s famed Painted Lady butterflies. Videos embedded in the headers showcase the interactive nature of Insect Lore’s products.
After learning about the Carolina Youth Development Center (CYDC) from Blue Acorn, Insect Lore marked the launch of its new e-commerce site by donating 30 of its signature Butterfly Garden Kits to the children at CYDC. The butterfly gardens educated the youth that were in the care of CYDC during their summer vacation. A home for neglected and abused children, CYDC provides a stable and nurturing environment for youth in need.
“Many of our employees have shared the butterfly kits with their children and families and understand their educational value,” said Kevin Eichelberger, founder and CEO of Blue Acorn. “We were thrilled that Insect Lore celebrated the launch of its new site by joining us to support the children at the Carolina Youth Development Center.”
