Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Dan McCawley Named General Counsel of Operation Lift Hope
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (PRWEB) November 18, 2015 -- Dan McCawley, a Shareholder in the Fort Lauderdale real estate practice of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., has been named to the board of directors for Operation Lift Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending veteran homelessness in Broward County. McCawley will serve as the board’s General Counsel.
Operation Lift Hope unites leaders of Fort Lauderdale’s business, government and social service agencies in an initiative to address the challenges facing homeless veterans. The effort began with a group of business and service providers voicing their opinions in an open forum, then expanded to include discussions with the Navy Special War Operations group that was training in Fort Lauderdale.
On any given night, there are almost 3,000 homeless men, women, and children in Broward County – and 54 percent of them reported that Fort Lauderdale was the city where they had slept the previous night. Veterans represent 18 percent of those people who call the streets of Fort Lauderdale home.
“This is a growing problem facing our community and one that can only be addressed through a coordinated effort,” McCawley said. “I look forward to continuing to empower and unite the Fort Lauderdale community against veteran homelessness.”
At Greenberg Traurig, Dan McCawley focuses his practice on real estate matters. He has broad experience in the sale, purchase and leasing of commercial and residential properties including shopping centers, office buildings, industrial warehouses, apartment complexes, restaurants, golf courses, hotel projects and undeveloped land. His practice also includes acting as lending counsel for several banks, structuring joint ventures and partnerships and the negotiation of construction contracts and land use agreements.
